Located in West Potomac Park, Washington, D.C., this plaque commemorates the start of the first continuously scheduled airplane mail service in 1918. The service linked Washington, Philadelphia, and New York using Curtiss JN 4-H aircraft. It was a pioneering effort by the Post Office Department and the U.S. Army's Aviation Section. The marker was placed in 1958 by the Aero Club of Washington.
