The Awakening statue by J Seward Johnson Jr was installed around 1980 at East Potomac Park (Hain's Point) in Washington, D.C. It depicts a giant emerging from the earth and is an allegorical work in aluminum. In 2008, the statue was moved to National Harbor in Maryland, ending its display in D.C. It was part of the Potomac Park sculpture collection documented by James M. Goode.
