DUPONT, Samuel Francis: Memorial Fountain in Dupont Circle in Washington, D.C. by Daniel Chester French
memorial
The Samuel Francis Dupont Memorial Fountain in Dupont Circle, Washington, D.C., was sculpted by Daniel Chester French to honor Rear Admiral Du Pont's naval service. It replaced an earlier statue of Du Pont that was moved to Wilmington, Delaware, in 1920. The fountain incorporates maritime allegorical figures and stands at Massachusetts Avenue and 19th Street NW near the Dupont Circle Metro station.
