The James Abram Garfield Memorial in Washington, D.C. is a bronze and marble sculpture by John Quincy Adams Ward, located west of the U.S. Capitol in The Mall area. It depicts Garfield looking west, accompanied by allegorical statues symbolizing his roles as scholar, soldier, and statesman. Garfield was the 20th U.S. President and the second to be assassinated, serving a brief term in office. The memorial was erected by his comrades from the Society of the Army of the Cumberland to honor his legacy.
