This bronze statue of George Washington by Jean-Antoine Houdon is located in the University Yard at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.'s Foggy Bottom area. Cast by the Gorham Foundry from Houdon's original in Richmond, Virginia, it was acquired in 1932 for the George Washington Bicentennial and permanently installed in 1991. The statue honors Washington's role as a founding father, Revolutionary War leader, and the first U.S. president. The University Yard is dedicated to Oliver T. Carr, Jr. for his contributions to the campus.
