Noyes Armillary Sphere (ca. 1931) previously at Meridian Hill Park in Washington D.C. (no longer present) by Carl Paul Jennewein

The Noyes Armillary Sphere was a bronze and copper sculpture created around 1931 by Carl Paul Jennewein, formerly installed at Meridian Hill Park in Washington, D.C. It was documented in James M. Goode's 1974 book "Outdoor Sculpture" but removed for repair in 1980 and subsequently lost or stolen. The sculpture was located near 16th Street and Florida Avenue NW, close to Columbia Heights and "U" Street Metro stations. Its disappearance highlights issues in the preservation of public art.
