Washington National Cathedral Gargoyles: Ram-like (18) in Washington, D.C. (dcMemorials.com - a pictorial directory of memorials, monuments, statues & other outdoor art)

The Ram-like Gargoyles at Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. are a set of 18 limestone sculptures located on the North Nave Bay 6 outer aisle level. Probably designed by Carl L Bush and carved by an unknown stonecarver, these gargoyles contribute to the cathedral's extensive collection of grotesques. They are situated at the intersection of Massachusetts and Wisconsin Avenues NW and exemplify the Gothic Revival style of the cathedral. These sculptures serve both decorative and functional roles as part of the cathedral's rainwater drainage system.
